Dear Reader,

Last week’s podcast episode, “I Want to Hear Your Story,” evoked this response from a long-time listener in New York:

John,
I loved your podcast today! I’m one of those people who thoroughly enjoys listening to other people’s life story.
I was in a Greek knitting group while we were living in New Jersey a few years back. All those women had such fascinating stories, that I couldn’t get enough of them. I tried to sit beside a different lady each time, so that I could get all their stories.
I was the only non-Greek in the bunch! (We were meeting in a local Greek Orthodox Church.) They loved me back and made me an honorary Greek! It opened the door for me to participate in their annual festival, and help them with cooking for events, among other things.
That was such a highlight of my time in New Jersey. I really became close with some of those ladies.
How better to build relationships than to listen to the stories of others?
I still enjoy hearing people’s stories, and often ask people in church on Sundays, or at work. It’s an absolute joy for me to listen.
Thanks again for your uplifting podcast.
Donna H.
